Rally Wisata 2008 (19 October 2008)
Jogjakarta bikers community will conduct a series of Touring Rallies that will be both fun and competitive. The Rally Wisata 2008 is an attractive and innovative activity which will involve more than a thousand bikers from all around Indonesia as well as bikers from several other countries. It is one of the initiatives to introduce and develop Jogjakarta’s tourism attractiveness to society at large.
In this Rally, the participants must travel from one tourism icon in Jogjakarta to another within a certain time (Time Controls), neither too fast nor too slow.
Jogja Food Fest (Friday 17th – Monday 20th October 2008)
Yogyakarta is widely known around the world as a mini Indonesia and many of its secret culinary recipes will be shared creatively through a Live Cooking Concept which will focus on the development and production of various culinary traditions both ancient and modern.
This event will be held along Jl Langensari with its serene atmosphere framed by examples of meaningful historical architecture.
Fashion, Dance & Cultural Gathering (22 October 2008)
Held in Vredeburg Port, this spectacular show will introduce us to the development of batik design and the kebaya. This fashion/dance concept will take the format of a fashion show complete with dance performances and the story-line will be taken from Adeging Nagari Ngayogyakarta Hadiningrat’s tale. The show will feature top models and professional dancers from Jogjakarta and all of the artistic design elements, again based on the tale, will combine to create a spectacular stage experience with surprising and exotic artistic elements.
Jogja Great Sale ( September – January 2009)
With the cooperation and support of Jogjakarta’s shopping arcades, malls, culinary industries and hotels, special discounts and packages will be available to tourists and visitors who want to shop during their holiday in Jogja. Tourists who join this ‘shopping frenzy’ will have the opportunity to win various prizes and gain exciting advantages.
The Asia Tri Jogja (23-24 October 2008)
A forum for cultural communication and art performances will open to the participation of artists regardless of their nationality, ethnicity, race, and
religion. This forum will feature attractive and innovative activities illustrating diverse cultures through the work of local, regional and some international artists. The Asia Tri initiatives is one of the strategies that aims to strengthen tourism and to present Jogja as a destination that is always friendly and safe to visit.
Jogja Java Carnival (25 October 2008)
This Carnival will be a breaktrough international evening and night time carnival, a spectacular mixture of performances and parades combining the best aspects of the modern and the traditional within Indonesia and Asia.
Street performances featuring a variety of dances and fashion performances involving international and local artists and participants such as Anterdans, Satrio Ayodya, Teater Boneka (Snuff Puppet), and Waguri in their traditional costumes. It will also feature Jogjakarta’s youth communities, bikers, fireworks and so much more.
The carnival will celebrate the joyous solidarity that can co-exist between modern and traditional cultures.
